Spring 2009 Registration is Now Open!
Registration for the Spring Season is now open.  Click here or select "Spring Registration" from the blue menu on the left to get started.  Register early before the holiday season rush begins later this month. This Spring will feature the following exciting elements in our league program:
  • A new format for our Intermediate Girl Pitch Division combining girl pitchers and pitching machines will be used (see below for more information).
  • We will continue to use our innovative Pitching Machine Division at the first-year Intermediate Level.
  • We have expanded the age range for our Junior Division to include 16 year olds.
  • Our wonderful league events will once again round out a great program including the Opening Day Parade, Father-Daughter Dance, Family Night Out and more. Come make memories that will last a lifetime.

This spring will feature the same league divisions as 2008: Pixies, Freshman 7, Freshman 8, Intermediate Machine Pitch, Intermediate Girl Pitch, Sophomores and Juniors. We will redraft all teams again this year so all players need to attend tryouts in January.

Intermediate Girl Pitch, the 2nd year Intermediate Division targeted at 10-year-olds,  will now include a combined format of Girl Pitch and pitching machine.  This division will play 2 innings of girl pitch followed by the remainder of the game using a pitching machine.  This format was used successfully for Fall Ball.  The first-year Intermediate Machine Pitch division for 9-year-olds will continue to use a pitching machine for all innings.

Parents control which division your girls play in: you may elect to play within age division, play up or play down. You get to pick the most comfortable choice of playing division for your daughter.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals
Most of us recognize the value of goal setting, but we fall into the trap of setting outcome goals. Placing in the top three at a competition is a great example of an outcome goal. There is another category of goals, “effort” goals. Examples of effort goals are sprinting after ground balls or boxing out after a shot. Generally speaking, your child will feel a greater sense of confidence and control when striving for effort goals. Effective goal-setting isn’t always easy. It’s helpful to remember the commonly used acronym, S.M.A.R.T., as a reliable guide.
  • Specific – Is the goal tangible and specific? Will I know if I’ve done it?
  • Measurable – Is the goal easily measured?
  • Attainable – With hard work, is the goal in the realm of possibility?
  • Relevant – Is the goal relevant to where I am right now?
  • Timely – Is there a definitive completion date?

Encourage your child to set S.M.A.R.T. effort goals that will help them achieve the outcome goals they are striving for.

Construction is nearing completion on three new softball fields as well as fields and facilities for baseball, lacrosse, soccer and football. Funds are still needed for field lighting, permanent restrooms, concession facilities and more. Named donation opportunities start at only $500. Let's all get into the game and contribute for the future of our girls! Click here to read a letter from WUSA President Bill Sudela bout this important project.
