WUSA 14U Wave 2nd in "5th Annual Swinging for National NIT" Tournament in Channelview, May 8-10, 2015

The 14U West U Wave placed second out of 22 teams in the 5th Annual Swinging for National NIT Tournament, played at the Channelview Sports Complex in Channelview, Texas, May 9-10, 2015. After beating the Brenham Spirit in their first bracket game, the Wave lost to Turn 2 on Saturday afternoon and had to play their first losers' bracket game at 11 pm Saturday night. After singing Happy Birthday to Coach Burns in a sombrero at dinner, the Wave played well past midnight with a decisive victory over Louisiana Extreme.

The Wave players were up bright and early on Sunday morning for an amazing win in ITB over Aces Jacoby, followed by wins against Texas Freedom and another Aces Jacoby team. In the Wave's fourth game on Sunday, they beat Texas Elite in the losers' bracket final in an exciting finish.  In their 10th game in 2 days, the Wave girls battled the Texas Magic in the championship game in the driving rain. The Magic bats were hot, but the Wave put up some amazing defense, coming up just a little short in the end.  The Wave's 2nd place finish can be attributed to rock-solid defense, exceptional pitching, timely hitting, and an unbelievable desire to win.

Next up for the Wave is the 7th Annual Summer Classic at Dyess Park in Cypress. GO WAVE!!
