  • 10U (birth years 2009-2010): Completed

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes early for tryouts for your player’s applicable age group, and please be prepared to stay for the entire time period of the scheduled tryout.

What should parents DO BEFORE the tryout?

Parents will need to fill out the Return to Play/COVID-19 Waiver and the WUSA Summer Tournament Team Registration Form, which includes a calendar section for indications of conflicts with potential tournament team practices and tournaments due to summer vacation and camp schedules. It is very important for parents to bring their family calendars for the summer and to fully and accurately disclose any known summer conflicts.

Completed Tournament Team Registration Forms and Return to Play/COVID-19 Waivers must be emailed to at least two hours prior to your daughter's scheduled tryout time slot. Please do not bring hard copies of the forms and waivers to the tryout.

What happens if it rains?

In the event of inclement weather, cancellation notices will be sent via the league’s normal text and rainout hotline services.

How do I know whether my daughter should try out?

If you are unsure about whether your daughter should try out for a summer tournament team, we encourage you to come out. The try out process is supportive and affirming, and the vast majority of even those players that do not get placed on a team find the process to be constructive and positive.

How do I choose the correct age group?

While players may try out for any team for which they are age-eligible, WUSA strongly recommends that players play with their age group for summer tournament team ball, and anyone trying out for an older age group must receive approval from the WUSA Board. WUSA does permit players to try out for more than one age group, if they wish to be considered for an older age group.

What should I expect when my daughter plays on a Summer Tournament Team?

  • Time commitment: Please be aware that playing on a summer tournament team involves a substantial time commitment, normally including two practices during the week and six or more weekend tournaments during the summer.
  • Travel requirements: Tournaments normally involve some travel, at least to the suburbs of Houston. Some overnight travel may be required, particularly for players on the first team at each age group, which we call the “Wave.”
  • Financial commitment: Summer tournament play requires a financial commitment (not covered by your spring registration fee) to cover team expenses for uniforms, equipment, and the cost of the tournaments (entry fees, umpires, etc.).
